Education
Study Permit Canada
Study at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada. A study permit is your gateway to Canadian education and, ultimately, permanent residence.
Who Needs a Study Permit?
Anyone studying in Canada for more than 6 months at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) must obtain a study permit before arriving.
Key Requirements
- Acceptance letter from a DLI
- Proof of sufficient funds (tuition + living expenses)
- No criminal record — police clearance may be required
- Medical exam if required by country of origin
- Intent to leave Canada after studies (unless applying for PR)
Pathway to Permanent Residence
After graduating, apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) valid for up to 3 years. Work experience gained in Canada then qualifies you for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) under Express Entry.
